Originally from Denmark, Hans settled in London in the 1930s. In 1937 an entry in Kelly’s business directory lists him as a tobacconist. He lived at 31 Ellington Road Muswell Hill NW10 from 1947-1988. Hans seems to be well travelled and is recorded on a ships passenger list as travelling from Cape Town South Africa in 1954.
He attended Barnet Art School and his paintings are mainly models from Barnet Art School and of local working class people he befriended in the Muswell Hill area of London.
His oils and acrylic paintings date from the 1950s and 1960s. They are painted on canvas and thin veneered boards. The drawings are mainly nude life studies and are on a variety of paper mediums, wallpaper, wrapping paper, sketch books, cardboard etc
